The payment flow in the OpenRice app seamlessly integrates various services, including takeaway orders, menu purchases, and voucher redemptions. It also provides a convenient option for settling dining bills by scanning the restaurant’s payment QR code. For merchants, this system enables efficient payment receipt and transaction management through dedicated merchant platforms. This cohesive payment system ensures a smooth and efficient experience for users across all services offered.

OBJECTIVE

Streamlining Transactions Across Services

The goal of designing this payment flow is to create the smoothest transaction experience possible, maintaining a consistent approach throughout. Users can effortlessly apply offers, redeem loyalty points (Rice Dollars earned from previous transactions), enter promo codes, and choose from a wide range of payment methods, including multiple digital wallets. This streamlined process not only enhances user satisfaction but also encourages greater engagement with the app.

CHALLENGE

A Consistent Payment Experience

The primary challenge in the OpenRice payment flow is to ensure a coherent user experience across all services. This involves maintaining consistency in the payment process for takeaway orders, menu purchases, voucher redemptions, and QR code payments at restaurants.

Additionally, we aim to minimize transaction time by simplifying steps such as selecting offers, applying promo codes, offsetting bills with loyalty points, and choosing payment methods. By optimizing these workflows, we enhance the overall efficiency of the payment experience and encourage more frequent use of the app's features.

SOLUTION

Payment Flow for Clarity and Efficiency

To address the challenges in the OpenRice payment flow, I focused on several key strategies:

  1. Consistent Color Theme: I ensured a uniform color theme for each service while maintaining consistent UI elements and overall user experience. This approach helps users easily identify the service they are using without compromising familiarity.

  2. User-Friendly Offer Grouping: Offers were grouped in a way that is easy to follow, allowing users to quickly understand their options.

  3. Interactive UI Components: I selected effective UI components, such as a sliding bar for selecting the offset amount with loyalty points, enhancing the interactivity of the payment process.

  4. Bill Amount Calculations: Implemented real-time bill calculations as users select offers, apply promo codes, and adjust loyalty points. This transparency ensures users are always aware of their total costs, making for a more informed and efficient transaction experience.
